I recently got back from a two month trip to Africa and the Middle East! It was absolutely incredible and I learned so much about myself. I was able to use my new Sherpani Soleil Convertible Travel Backpack on this trip and it worked so well as my personal item. Here’s why it’s my new favorite daypack for traveling abroad.

After getting my daypack stolen in Thailand, I have been on the lookout for an anti-theft backpack. If I had the Sherpani Soleil back then, I don’t think my backpack would have been stolen!

The Sherpani Soleil is the perfect size for a carry on personal item with just the right amount of pockets and organization. Here are just a few of my favorite things about this bag and why I will travel with it from now on.

The anti-theft features are amazing.

  • The Sherpani Soleil has so many anti-theft features.
  • RFID protection
  • Proprietary slash proof wireless shoulder strap that is actually comfortable!
  • Slash proof mesh bottom
  • Locking zippers
  • Wire-loop chair lock
  • ReturnMe tag

It can be worn like a backpack, carried as a crossbody bag or tote bag.

  • I love being able to carry the Sherpani Soleil, as a crossbody bag, while running through the airport. There is nothing worse than wearing two backpacks and looking like a pregnant turtle, am I right?
  • When I am using the Soleil around town, I prefer backpack mode.
  • Carrying it as a tote is the best way to hold it when others want to help you.

Looks good and has lots of organization.

  • The Sherpani Soleil was awarded the 2023 Global Innovation Award Winner for Excellence in Product Design. This bag not only looks good but is also really functional!
  • Lots of pockets to make sure you have a place for everything. There are three water bottle pockets, two front pockets, laptop sleeve and interior organization for pens and other small items.
  • It can be used in an urban setting or on a hike. I like that the Soleil looks quite modern and elevated but is really durable as well.
Exploring Abu Simbel in Egypt

After traveling for two months through Egypt and the Middle East with my Shepani Soleil, I can honestly say it’s my new favorite personal item and will be bringing it on more trips abroad. The anti-theft features are so important to provide peace of mind and I love being able to carry it three different ways. The pockets help keep me organized and it’s big enough for everything I need including my mirrorless camera and tripod. I can’t wait for my next trip so I can use it again!
